I was very happy to receive an answer from Kathryn Cooper today. She took the time to give me a few hints on the steps i should take in order to set in motion my ‘Quebec Energie’ project. Here’s an overview of her message:
1- Find the renewables network in your City ( look for examples in Toronto’s solar co-ops )
2- The Canada Green Building Council might have some resources for apartment building owners, so you may want to have a look at them
3- Find out if the City of Montreal has any funding for an Energy/Water/Waste audit.
Once the logistics are determined and the target home is found, here are a few things to consider
1- The owner of the building may be eligible to funding by natural ressources of Canada
2- Before installing a green system, look at the basics of insulation, efficience of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems (HVAC) of each specific targeted home. Big bucks can often be saved in these systems that can then be used for finance some of your renewables investment
